随着环保政策趋严，中国天然气消费量和进口量不断攀升。国家发改委数据显示，2018年5月，中国完成天然气进口量102.3亿立方米，比去年同期增长36.7%；完成天然气表观消费量225.3亿立方米，比去年同期增长17.8%。再加之中国曾经在刚刚过去的冬季出现了大面积的供气紧张，中国天然气市场发展受到广泛关注。随着中国经济增长以及削减煤炭的使用， LNG进口将大幅增加，2019年中国将成为全球最大天然气进口国。
全球LNG市场将满足中国天然气不断增长的需求
LNG贸易的繁荣使建立世界性的天然气市场成为可能。目前的全球LNG市场呈现出三个基本特点。
一是跨区贸易持续繁荣。位于中东地区的卡塔尔作为世界最大的LNG出口国，2017年LNG出口总量1034亿立方米，占全球LNG贸易量的26.28%，其中出口到亚太地区896亿立方米；居于全球LNG出口国第二位的澳大利亚，同期出口量759亿立方米，几乎全部出口到了亚太地区。美国放开LNG出口限制后，也已经将亚太地位设定为目标市场。
二是LNG出口国和供应国数量持续增加。2000年以来，LNG贸易量从1亿吨增长到了2017年的2.97亿吨。同期，LNG进口国数量翻了四倍，LNG供应国数量实现翻番，亚洲成为LNG贸易最为活跃的地区，2017年贸易量2835亿立方米，占全部LNG贸易量的72.06%。即使长期以来限制国内天然气出口的美国，也在页岩气革命之后因天然气产量快速增长，而开放了天然气出口限制，成为全球LNG出口国的重要潜力国。
三是LNG贸易呈现出更高的灵活性。近年来，LNG现货贸易急剧增长，2017年LNG现货和短期合同贸易量1210亿立方米，同比增长23.4%，占总贸易量的30.77%，而2010年时占比约为20%，上升了约10个百分点。有资料显示，2017年新签LNG合同平均期限在8年以内，大大短于原有长贸合同的20年；合同年度交易量多小于100万吨；现货LNG运输船首次达到1100船，相当于每天3船。
亚洲需求推高全球LNG市场
Asian markets have continued to push up global LNG demand this summer, while international gas association Cedigaz sees China and India remaining the key drivers of demand growth to 2040. Combined Chinese and Indian LNG imports in April-May rose to 24.5mn t from 18.4mn t a year earlier.
The strength of demand from these markets, as well as from others such as Pakistan and South Korea, continued to draw supply away from Europe. This was despite high European demand for gas to fill heavily depleted storage sites this summer. The strength in demand from Asian markets opened up enough of an arbitrage with European gas hubs to trigger reloads, even from Spain, where reload costs are higher than elsewhere in Europe.
China's gas demand held strong early this summer driven in particular by industrial demand ramping up. Industries were turning up output after having been forced to cut production over the winter because of gas shortages. Demand for LNG imports was bolstered by field maintenance curbing domestic output as well as restrictions on pipeline imports from central Asia.
